2010 Range Rover Sport (old gen) for a quick spin

The Machine in question here is a huge white Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE. Although there is a new version on sale which makes this one out-dated, but i couldn’t stop myself from writing about the short but amazing drive sitting on the British Leather interior captain chairs of the SUV.

It gets all the bells and whistles like an on-board air compressor to pump up the air-suspensions to Land Rover’s legendary off-road traction control systems known as “Terrain Response System”. I shall enlighten about these technologies in detail later in my other posts. The air suspensions provide ample ‘lift’ to take on whatever the roads have to offer and beyond. At the maximum lift I believe it can climb over most of the road dividers if you really need to that is.

The Engine:                                                                                                                                                                                  The one i got to drive designated as 3.0 SDV6 HSE gets a 3.0 litre turbocharged diesel V6. It makes around 245 BHP and some 600 NM of torque which is quite sufficient to make an escape from a Police chase if you have stolen this car. Damn! it is fast. Step on the accelerator and it will shoot ahead forgetting that it is a massive SUV of over 2 tonnes.

The Comfort:                                                                                                                                                                             Climb on to the driver’s seat and immediately you realize how amazingly the car wraps around you. The buttons and controls, all are very accessible and ergonomic. Not to forget those supremely comfortable captain chairs that a give a commanding view of the road ahead and all around. It is comfortable in the way it drives, the way you are seated and the way you feel.

Sum-up:                                                                                                                                                                                      Although you can not buy this car now since it has been replaced with an all new Range Rover Sports which is an amazing car as well, you can certainly find some good examples of the 2010 Range Rover Sport in the used car market. At a price tag of more than 1.5 crore rupees it was never affordable but I believe it is a wonderful all-rounder package this multi talented car. You can be chauffeured everyday to work in it or you can be the captain and drive it yourself. You can have it as a daily driver or as a weekend trip car. You can drive it like a gentleman, or drive it like a maniac! This car will climb potholes, dividers or even mountains! and still look good and classy.
