The much anticipated 3rd Generation of the best selling sedan from Maruti Suzuki, the Dzire was finally launched in India on May 16. Here’s a peak in to the newest version of the Dzire.
Launched first in 2008, sedan version of the Swift, the Dzire has always set the sales high for Maruti Suzuki. So much that they decided to continue their first version as ‘Tour’ even after the launch of a newer 2nd Gen Dzire. Since then it has always been the choice of many customers shopping in this segment. Let us hope this 3rd Gen Dzire carries the crown and pride to be as desirable as before.
Built on the same platform as the Baleno, the Dzire now is more than 100 kilos lighter in weight which should result in better handling and better fuel efficiency figures. The changes compared to the older Dzire are mostly exterior as it uses the same engine and gearbox as before which is not a bad idea. The engine and gearbox are tried and tested, one of the best in the industry.
When it comes to design and looks, it carries the curves from the Baleno which hints the sharing of platform. It does carry all the ingredients that do a modern new gen car. Projectors, DRLs, Turn indicator on ORVMs, LED tail lamps, Touch screen media interface with Apple CarPlay, Climate control, key-less entry and go, Rear AC vents and the works!.
There are in total 14 variants to choose starting from 5.74 lakh to 9.85 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). You can choose between Petrol or Diesel engine and Manual or Auto gearbox to suit your preferences.
Space on the inside is good but Quality of the materials may not be great. However we still need to get our hands on one of the demo cars to experience the car in person, hence it may be too soon to judge as of now. Stay tuned for a detailed review soon.
